About Me
Kathy Aldous-Schleindl has a Bachelor of Design degree from the Emily Carr University of Art & Design, and has worked as a graphic designer in Toronto for clients such as: Penguin, Harcourt Brace, DC Heath, and Scholastic. After coming to Calgary, she designed for Fifth House Publishing. In addition to cover and interior book design, Kathy’s projects have included painting, illustration, murals, textile art, and the one-of-a-kind handbags under the Marmalade label.
Kathy also enjoys being involved in community art projects. She has worked for Antyx Community Arts in Calgary to create a mural for the Southland Leisure Centre with the After School Program; and also created a mural with a community in Falconridge. She has also done art projects with students in a variety of local schools.
Additionally, a fun project this summer was to do the sidewalk chalk illustration for City TV, which was used in the “Ted and Tara” promo ad for Breakfast TV.
Kathy currently teaches art classes to children, youth and adults, and finds it very enjoyable and rewarding. She teaches weekly classes at North Mount Pleasant Art Centre, the Kerby Centre, Highwood Mandarin School, and Hughes on Tenth Art Gallery & Studio.
Vive l’art!
